Each figure on this map represents a township-level administrative area of Beijing - the administrative unit below the "district". The posture of each figure is derived from the outline of the respective township-level administrative area. The figures in the city center are small and tightly packed, while those on the outskirts are larger and more spaced out. This reflects the pattern of administrative divisions and vividly depicts the real state of urban aggregation.
